Reverse Geography War -- 2 Players
What You Should Know Before You Play The object of the game is to get all of the cards. If you do, you’ll win. Luck, and the state rankings (from 1st to 50th) in size, statehood and population of the GeoPlunge cards you play, determines how well you’ll do. In this game, you are hoping the cards you play are weak – not strong. The Rhode Island card has the weakest (i.e., 50th) size ranking, Hawaii has the weakest statehood ranking, and Wyoming has the weakest population ranking. Use the GeoPlunge cards only, and do not shuffle the deck after the game begins. How to Play¨ Deal each player 25 cards. ¨ Throughout the game, each player at the same time plays face-up his or her then top card. ¨ Throughout the game, compare the weakest ranking for each of the two cards played. Whichever player played the card with the worst weakest ranking wins the cards (whenever you win cards, put those cards at the bottom of your pile of cards). For example, if one player plays Wyoming, and the other player plays Alaska, the first player would win the two cards because Wyoming’s worst ranking (50th in population) is worse than Alaska’s weakest ranking (49th in statehood). ¨ If the worst ranking of each of the cards played is a tie, a Geography War has occurred. In that case, each player lays face down his or her next four cards, and then plays face-up his or her fifth card. Whoever’s fifth card is weaker (has the worst weakest ranking) wins all of the cards. If it is still a tie, you do the same thing again (this is a Double Geography War). If a player does not have five cards left at the time of a Geography War, the player lays face-down all but the last card in his or her hand and then plays that last card. ¨ If at any time during the game you play a card that “GeoPlunges” the card played by the other player, you not only win those 2 cards, but the other player must give you the next three cards in his or her hand. A card GeoPlunges another card if it has a worse ranking than the other card in all 3 categories (i.e., size, statehood and population). For example, Maine would GeoPlunge Georgia because Maine’s ranking in each of those 3 categories is weaker than Georgia’s rankings in those same categories.
