GeoBorderFall:  1 Player

What You Should Know Before You Play

The object of the game is to use what you learn about the border states of the U.S. states to win. Your goal is to discard as many of your cards as you can before the game is over.  You win if you have no more than 3 cards left when the game ends.  You have “GeoPlunged”, which is the best possible win, if you have no cards remaining at the end.

Play 3 rounds in this game.  Use only the GeoPlunge cards, and don’t reshuffle between rounds.

When to Deal the Cards and How Many to Deal

§         During each of the first 2 rounds, deal 10 cards onto the table and 10 cards to yourself.

§         During the final round, deal 5 cards onto the table and 5 cards to yourself.

§         Deal all cards onto the table face-down.  A round ends when you have played (by turning face-up, one at a time) all of the cards dealt onto the table in that round.

§         If you run out of cards in your hand before the end of a round (other than the last round), deal your next set of cards to yourself at that time.

How to Play

During each round, play face-up, one at a time, the then top card on the table.  Each time you play a card from the table, you then may try to discard cards from your hand as follows:

o       If you have 2 or more cards from your hand that border the state of the card played from the table (“bordering cards”), you may discard 2 of those bordering cards from your hand, as well as any 1 other card from your hand.

o       If you have 1 card from your hand that borders the state of the card played from the table, you may, if you want (but you don’t have to), discard that card.

o       You cannot discard any cards from your hand if you do not have any cards that are a border state of the card you played from the table.

Cards dealt to you in the first 2 rounds that you don’t discard on the round they are dealt to you, remain in your hand, and you may discard them on later rounds if you can.
