GeoRuns: 1 PlayerWhat You Should Know Before You PlayThe object of the game is to use what you learn about the state rankings (from 1st to 50th) in size, statehood and population to form 5 winning piles of cards. There must be 5 cards in each winning pile. Your decisions as to which cards to put in which piles can be the difference between winning and losing. It’s not that easy to win, but the good news is you get two tries every game. You play 2 rounds per game. If you form 5 winning piles during either round, you win. If you do it in both rounds, that’s fantastic and you have achieved a rare “Double Win.” Use only the GeoPlunge cards and don’t shuffle the deck once the game begins. During the first round, you use only the top 25 cards in the deck. During the second round, you use only the remaining 25 cards. How to Play· Turn face-up the then top card in the deck and “play” the card. Continue doing this one card at a time until you have played all of the cards to be used in that round. To play a card, means to place it in one of the 5 piles that you are creating. · Throughout the game, don’t look at any of the later cards in the deck until you play the then top card. Once you play a card, you cannot later move that card to another pile. It must stay in the pile in which you originally placed it. · To win a round, 1) The first pile must have 5 states that each have at least one ranking (i.e., size, statehood or population) in the top 10. 2) The second pile must have 5 states that each have at least one ranking between 11th and 20th. 3) The third pile must have 5 states that each have at least one ranking between 21st and 30th. 4) The fourth pile must have 5 states that each have at least one ranking between 31st and 40th. 5) The fifth pile must have 5 states that each have at least one ranking between 41st and 50th. You should place the first pile to your far left, the second pile just to the right of the first pile, and so on. · Also, to win a round, the five rankings used for the states put in each pile must all be different numbered rankings. So Delaware and Alaska cannot both be put in the first pile since the only ranking they have in the top 10 is the same (which is 1st). But California and Delaware could both be put in the first pile because you could use California’s ranking of 3rd in size and Delaware’s ranking of 1st in statehood. · A round ends you have won the round, or when it has become impossible to win that round (because you picked a card that you cannot put in any pile that has less than 5 cards in it already).
